  HOME TREASURE HUNTS

Home Treasure Hunts ~ FAQ

Q: I have a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old.  Can they do the hunt together?

A: Of course!  As a matter of fact, they could work as a team to help figure the clues out...as long as they don't mind being on team.

Q: How many hunts do you have?
A: Currently, we have three home treasure hunts: one for pre-k, one for K-2 and one for 3rd-5th graders.  But we will be adding more in the coming months so stay tuned!

Q: I live in an apartment.  Will it still work?
A:  Yes!  We have tried very hard to make sure Home Treasure Hunts work in any house or apartment.  The hiding places are common enough that they exist in most living quarters.  We won't have clues pointing children to look in the corner pocket of a billiard table OR searching inside of grandpa's humidor.  So yes, you should be okay.

Q: Will the hunt for K-2 kids be too easy for my bright 2nd grader?
A: The hunts are built for ability level more so than age.  Some 10-year-olds might find a hunt too easy where other 10-year-olds might find the same hunt easy.  If your second grader needs more of a challenge in school, he might want more of a challenge with his treasure hunt, too.  You know your grandson better than anyone.  You can always buy two and give him the easy one first and save the more challenging one for another day.

Q: How long will the hunts take?
A: Well, a lot of that depends on the child.  On average, they take about 20 minutes from start to finish.  The preschool hunt has 12 clues that you will most likely needs to read to the child.  The K-2 hunts has 16 clues and the hunt for 3rd to 5th graders has 21 total clues.  If your child is competitive, he/she might rush through.  If your child is laid back, it might take a little longer  But on average, we are talking 20 minutes or so.

Q: How does the treasure hunt end?
A: The final clue will lead to a final hiding spot.  At that final location, be sure to have a prize waiting.  The final note will explain that the hunt is coming to an end, however, we don't provide a prize.  That prize is up to you.  It can be a pack of gum, a small toy, or leftover pizza.  Actually, leftover pizza is probably not a smart idea.  We bet you could come up with something!

Q: I just received my hunt in the mail and the clues don't make sense to me.  Will it make sense to my child?
A: Yes and here's why.  You are not seeing the clues in the same order that your child will discover them.  When the clues arrive, they are stacked according to rooms.  This is done to make the set-up easier and faster for you.  So don't worry if the clues are confusing at first, they will make perfect sense once the hunt begins.
